Technology Ireland warns that provisions under political ad regulation could impact Big Tech firms’ confidentiality and undermine national privacy regulators
Tech giants have warned the Irish government that EU proposals to restrict political advertising online could force them to reveal confidential information to the public.
Technology Ireland, a powerful Ibec lobby group, has strongly opposed aspects of the EU’s planned political ad regulation – arguing it could compromise the confidentiality of social media platforms and “undermine” Ireland’s Data Protection Commission .
