When you aren’t gaming, the lights can be used as digital art or even night lights

One of my most entertaining – and frivolous – purchases of the past few years has been the smart Christmas lights we bought a few years ago. Made by Italian lighting company Twinkly, they offer features such as AR mapping that allows you to scan the tree with the light in place, and then load on different effects such as candy cane stripes, or LED-rendered hearts. But they weren’t cheap, and only get dragged out once a year.

The company also has some lights aimed at gamers, including Twinkly Squares, which allow you to set up your own custom lighting effects. They can be set up to react to your on-screen activities, bringing something extra to your gaming set up. When you aren’t gaming, they can be used as digital art or even night lights.
