'Due to the “language barrier” her family claimed they didn’t understand how much treatment would cost and were horrified when they received a bill'
A teenager from Scotland is fighting for her life in a Spanish hospital after she fell ill on holiday - and now faces a medical bill of over €15,000.
This was for just two nights in the centre and to make things worse, their insurance policy didn’t cover it. She had been on a family holiday in Fuengirola, on the Costa Del Sol when her health suddenly took a turn for the worse and she was forced to miss her flight back home. But just as her mum got home, Pete called her in floods of tears to say Bryony had been rushed to the private hospital - so Stephanie flew right back to Malaga on Monday morning.
“When the body scan came back they’ve seen something on her lung which turned out to be pneumonia,” Stephanie said. The mum continued: “The next minute she starts having a seizure and the medical staff took me out of the ward and I had to just sit there and wait.
