Martin McAleer (19) and Hughie Doherty (20) were arrested on Wednesday after a high powered Audi they were allegedly travelling in, allegedly failed to stop for gardai when directed to do so after it was suspected the car they were in was used in connection with several burglaries in south Dublin and Co Meath.

Shortly after 1pm yesterday when an Audi car allegedly failed to stop, a managed containment operation was put in place. The car is alleged to have been driven onto the M50 where it was pursued by a number of garda vehicles for around 10 minutes and continued into Tallaght. McAleer, of Saint Aiden’s Close, Tallaght and Doherty, of Sundale Villas in Tallaght appeared before Tallaght District Court on Thursday morning.
