A TEENAGE thug attacked a stranger who he thought was stealing his mobile phone.Mr Dalgleish had earlier spotted the unattended phone before he was approached by the boy.The boy pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man.
Co-accused James Brown, 18, meantime admitted conducting himself in a disorderly manner on the train.The court heard that Miss Eldridge approached a group of youths when Brown stated"what you wanting?" before calling her a"tramp".He was then reported by other passengers as he was stamping on someone's bike, damaging it.
Brown was noted to have been under the influence of alcohol and was told to leave at Carntyne station."She was shocked but did not react and went to the toilet to clean up before resuming her duties."Miss Donnelly said:"He was aware of an unattended mobile phone and he picked it up. "The boy approached him shouting 'you have got my f***ing phone' and punched him on the face repeatedly."
Mr Dalgleish attempted to fight back but he ended up on the floor with the boy striking more blows to his face.Fortunately, he did not require further medical treatment.The boy told officers:"I thought he was stealing my phone, that's why I attacked him."
