A teenager jumped and stamped on a defenceless man’s head in a violent and unprovoked attack
Jamie Knowles led a gang of thugs in Preston city centre as he left a man needing multiple operations and his wife lying on the floor in pain. Knowles, now 18, knocked the man to the floor before landing multiple kicks on the helpless victim. When his horrified wife ran over, she too was sent to the floor.
Mr Whitehead’s brief response to the gang was quickly stopped when members turned towards him and he tried to get away from them. Recorder Flack told Knowles: “Had you left it at that, you would no doubt not be in court today.” Mrs Whitehead ran over to her husband but was knocked down to the ground by Knowles. For her, the horror of seeing her husband being attacked as he lay defencess has left her suffering flashbacks and unable to sleep. The trauma was compounded by the face the attack happened on the anniversary of her brother’s violent death.
