Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly before 1am to reports of a single vehicle collision on the R319 at Keel, Achill
The road at the scene is currently closed to all traffic, and garda have warned commuters that this is affecting access to areas on Achill Island west of Keel. A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said in a statement: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision in Achill, Co. Mayo.
"The road at the scene is currently closed to all traffic, affecting access to areas on Achill Island west of Keel. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been notified and a report will be sent to the local Coroner."
