A teenager lost his life on a 'sleepy' suburban street where residents fear the 'racers' who come out at night
Residents on a 'sleepy' Altrincham street have spoken of their sadness after a teenager died in a hit and run incident.
But several people who live nearby spoke of 'racers' often coming out at night on the residential roads where the incident occurred. Several roads around the town centre have recently been upgraded with a one-way system put in place on part of Regent Road. On Saturday afternoon, GMP confirmed that the Serious Collision Investigation Unit was looking into the tragic incident. The force said officers were 'working at pace' to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and following up on multiple lines of inquiry.
"Enquiries revealed that the victim climbed onto the bonnet of a vehicle - a grey Ford Ka - and he was driven across the junction of Dunham Road onto Booth Road. He fell from the bonnet and tragically sustained fatal injuries.Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Altrincham councillor Michael Welton expressed general concerns about safety at the junctions along the A56.
"Wide roads encourage speeding. We'd like to see action taken so that people are encouraged to drive a lot more cautiously through the town centre.
