After several months of negotiating, Temple University Hospital union workers reportedly have reached a deal with a new three-year contract. Hence, the union avoided their vote to strike.
A combination of an estimated 2,500 nurses, hospital technicians and other healthcare workers worked without a deal since Sept. 30, but the contract agreement was settled on Monday evening, according toTemple University Hospital Nurses Association and Temple Allied Professionals union workers started negotiations in August. The union workers are part of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, representing over 8,000 healthcare workers in Pa.
reported the healthcare professionals’ terms of the contract include decreasing the patient-to-nurse ratio. The contract also included more safety measures for Temple University Hospital campus, which will consist of 24/7 security and metal detectors that’ll identify also concealed weapons., “This contract, with its new staffing language and the seat at the table it provides us in creating policies to report and prevent workplace violence, is game-changing.
