A group of American female tourists were left deeply shaken after an intruder allegedly broke into their Airbnb accommodation in Dublin City over the weekend. The women had checked into the Airbnb on Talbot Street on Friday and were enjoying their stay until the unsettling incident occurred on Sunday morning as the night transitioned into dawn. Conal, the manager of the Dublin City Centre Airbnb , shared details of the harrowing experience on RTÉ's Liveline program this week.
He explained that a man wearing a balaclava forced his way into the Airbnb's kitchen area. The intruder, seemingly without any specific targets in mind, proceeded to steal the television from the wall, even using a knife to sever its connection. According to Conal, the women, terrified by the intruder's presence and actions, barricaded themselves inside a bedroom. The intruder, after taking the television, attempted to flee through the same entrance he had used to gain entry. He encountered a plate glass window, and in a desperate attempt to escape, he even broke the window using a fire extinguisher. He eventually realized his mistake and exited through the front door, making his way onto the roof and disappearing.Gardaí, the Irish police force, confirmed that they were investigating the alleged burglary that occurred on Talbot Street in the early hours of Sunday morning. A Garda spokesperson stated that they received a report of the incident at approximately 12:20 am on Sunday, February 16th, and that investigations were ongoing.
