Tesco Ireland have issued an alert to customers about opening hours in the midst of the ongoing cold snap . Parts of the country received heavy snowfall in the last few days that is yet to clear, while a low temperature warning has been issued by Met Eireann for the whole country this week. Temperatures are said to reach as low as -8 degrees in areas tonight with dangerous levels of ice and frost expected.
Tesco have shared an alert on their social media as they warned that opening hours may be impacted in their stores as they prioritise the safety of staff and customers. In a statement on Instagram they have written: 'Due to the orange weather warning and in the interest of our colleagues and customers safety, opening hours in certain areas across the country may be impacted by the current weather conditions. 'We would also like to thank all of our dedicated colleagues who continue to provide exceptional service despite the challenging weather.' It comes as schools in several counties have remained closed due to snowfall and loss of power. The majority of schools have opened as normal this morning, however in several counties affected by severe weather some primary and post-primary schools have taken the decision to remain closed due to local conditions and safety concerns. 'As weather and conditions can change quickly and unexpectedly, we appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience as schools and transport providers assess the situation locally and decide the safest options.
