SJ Geurin is one of the top high school pitchers in Texas and is close to recording her 1,000th strikeout on varsity.
PUBLISHED 4:15 PM CDT Apr. 09, 2022Her mom Angela, a former pitcher at the University of Tulsa, was adamant that her daughter wouldn't step in the circle.
"I kept seeing all these other girls do it, and I kept saying that I wanted to do it," Geurin said. "She [Mom] said that she would teach me, and if I really wanted to do it, I'd have to commit to it." “This year we do not have a second pitcher, and so it's been a lot of pressure trying to make sure that I'm staying healthy," Geurin said. "The pressure is a privilege and it's the only way that you're going to grow. It's only made us better and stronger as a team.”“I’m kind of a control freak," said Geurin about her pitching mindset.
