The Bend is confident it can lure the World Endurance Championship to Australia.
Circuit owner Sam Shahin has been in talks with WEC officials since pre-COVID and says a number of visits to his facility, as well as his own trips to WEC HQ in Europe, led to a heads of agreement being signed in 2019.
"I've been very upfront about our vision to hold the best of everything, the best events in two and four wheeled motorsport," Shahin told Motorsport.com. "WEC looks a little bit different now in terms of participants and hierarchy than it did in 2019 but I'm extremely optimistic that there is a future for WEC at The Bend."
He also says the ALMS will return as soon as next year to complete the remaining two events of its contract with The Bend.
