is back. There are some top new shows and original movies coming to streaming in June, which I list below, but it’s hard not be excited about the return of Disney+’s captivating comic-drama about a kitchen crew’s chaotic, heartfelt evolution. Yes, chef!
The series has many exemplary qualities, but here’s one that’s underrated: we get a new season every 12 months.Streaming has often functioned as the disruptor to broadcast and cable television, but something those models did well was to get shows onto a reliable yearly schedule. That didn’t need to change, and hopefully more streaming series can carve out their annual spot. Familiarity, in this case, breeds contentment.
There’s plenty in June’s line-up to keep you couch-bound as the cold draws in, whether it’s an oddball comic quest is a comic thriller that puts Longoria back in front of the camera, playing Gala, a New Yorker whose empty-nest years are upended by her husband’s arrest for financial crimes. To escape her spouse’s criminal debtors, Gala has to flee with her mother and adult daughter to the Spanish town her family left 50 years prior.
