Point is, there are a handful of unproven young players that will get tapped to contribute in 2023 — perhaps more than in previous years. And that’s without even mentioning that Jackson Chourio, the team’s best prospect, could continue to make noise and force himself into the conversation, too.
After a recent phone call with Reynolds, manager Derek Shelton insisted there won’t be any problems during camp. “There will be no effect,” Shelton said. “Bryan Reynolds will play the way he plays.” Reynolds isn’t the type to make waves, but his teammates have to be leery about how this might end. —It’s a bit of a toss-up between the starting rotation and the starting outfield. There are reasonable concerns regarding the longevity of the rotation but I’ll still give the nod to the outfield here.
