The housing estate has changed a lot over the years
in Europe. Following the end of the Second World War, Nottingham was in need of new housing and the City Council bought 936 acres of land nearPlanning permission was granted in 1950, and in time, 40,000 people would live there, split into distinct neighbourhoods, each with 600 to 1,500 homes, shops, open spaces and primary schools.
The area has changed a lot since then, and is no longer the biggest housing estate, although it is still home to thousands of people. Big retailers like B&M and Lidl can be found on the estate's retail park, Clifton Triangle, Nottingham Trent University has a campus there and the A453 was widened in recent years.
