The four cofounders of Summit — an event production company that has hosted over 250 global gatherings over the past 15 years including the likes of Richard Branson and Shonda Rhimes — have a new book, 'Make No Small Plans,' out today. Their chief motivation is to inspire others to dream big.
“Whether you’re a teacher, a nurse, a CEO or a college student, nothing is more important than seeking, dreaming, risk-taking and do-ing,” the cofounders say. Don’t wait for the right moment. The world doesn’t have time for that. We need people dreaming crazy ideas and pushing past their reservations. Now like never before, we need to be radical creators, to protect the planet and to do exponentially more good.
Summit began 15 years ago as an event production company. In the hundreds of global gatherings hosted since, speakers have included Shonda Rhimes, Bill Clinton, Brené Brown, Ray Dalio, Kendrick Lamar, Jessica Alba and Jeff Bezos. Al Gore has said, “Summit provides a unique opportunity for thought leaders from all sectors to come together and exchange ideas to innovate and solve pressing global challenges.
A decade ago, the cofounders purchased Powder Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in North America. They’re also impact investors who made early-stage investments in Warby Parker and Uber, among other startups. With Summit Junto, they connect leaders with advisory boards. Summit Impact fosters non-profit leaders and social entrepreneurs. The Summit organization has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the environment, houselessness, civic engagement, and criminal justice reform.
