Police break the ice on the lake at Babbs Mill Park in Kingshurst, after the deaths of three boys aged eight, 10 and 11 who fell through ice into the lake in the West Midlands A six-year-old boy is still fighting for his life in hospital as tributes are paid to three boys who died when they fell into a frozen lake in Solihull.Kinghurst, Solihull in the West Midlands.
West Midlands Police said searches of the lake were continuing on Tuesday morning as local residents spoke of their shock at the tragedy. One resident, who did not want to be named, added: “I’m feeling numb. It’s just too close to home and absolutely heartbreaking. Residents were in tears as they placed flowers, toys and teddy bears at the base of the tree near Babbs Mill Park on Tuesday morning.Overnight, more tributes were left including four balloons in the shape of silver stars and two blue hearts.
“You can see here the outpouring of love and support already, that’s the kind of community this is. These boys will never be forgotten.”
