Dubliner Inc - which has previously taken a case against the Irish Dairy Board over Dubliner Irish cheese - is suing the business behind The Dubliner pub

The owners of an Irish bar in Boston have accused a rival bar owner of committing of a “fraud” on the US Patent Office as part of an increasingly bitter dispute over who gets to use the term ‘Dubliner’ in America.

East Coast Taverns, which is owned by three Irish men, Oran McGonagle, William McCarthy and Aidan McGee, is the company behind a pub in Boston called The Dubliner. The company is being sued by Dubliner Inc, a company in Washington DC run by the Coleman family, which is is alleging that East Coast Taverns has infringed on its trademarks.
