Harry Wood is on a mission - to help Shels win their first League in 18 years
Harry Wood had a career in the Championship and a gateway to the biggest dreams and salaries a footballer could wish for.Up until 14 months ago, he knew little or nothing about the League of Ireland.A loan move to Shelbourne followed, Wood and fellow loanee, Will Jarvis, adding craft to a team renowned solely for its graft.But when the chance to join Shels on a two-and-a-half year deal came up, the 22-year-old playmaker didn’t hesitate to say yes.
Wood said: “For sure a big factor behind my move back here was the success the team was having but the more persuasive element for me was how well I developed as a player under the gaffer when I was here last year.“I loved my football here . I wanted back. As soon as the chance came to return, I snapped it up.”
But there was something about the League of Ireland that stirred the soul - the crowds, the songs, the flares, the pace of the game, the connection between fans and players.“Shels-Bohs; Shels-Rovers; Shels-St Pat’s; Shels-Derry - they’re all massive games.
