Join us next week for a free in-person panel discussion on what it means to be a citizen of the EU and how to make the European Parliament work for you. MEPs MacManusChris and MariaWalshEU will share their experiences and answer questions. Details:
The panel will be hosted by Emmy Coffey Nguyen, Ireland’s Youth National Citizen Representative to the Conference on the Future of Europe.
The panel will include MEPs Maria Walsh of Fine Gael and Chris MacManus of Sinn Féin, who will share their experience of the European Parliament since taking their seats in 2019 and 2020. We will also be joined by Ciarán O'Driscoll, Policy and Research Officer with European Movement Ireland. Ireland's long relationship with the European Union remains strong, and EU membership remains very popular among Irish people.
But with a new generation looking to Europe for opportunities, how much do we know about the inner-workings of the European Parliament? Do we know about all the benefits available to us as citizens of Europe? And how can we best contribute to the democratic process in Europe to make sure our interests are represented?
This discussion - with contributions from the audience - will focus on what it means to the next generation to be a European citizen, the obligations and opportunities that come with it - and what changes might be needed to strengthen that relationship with Europe.
