With just 6 weeks to go forty-something bride-to-be Rachel Reidy gets advice on the best treatments to promote a brighter, smoother and clearer comple
xion.I love the aesthetic of the Fitzgerald Private Clinic on 3 Anne’s Lane, Dublin 2. Having recently returned from London, where I lived for 20 years, I wasn’t familiar with this clinic, however, it regularly caught my eye when I parked my car nearby and I always admired it.
On arrival, I was greeted by Clinic Manager, Noelle, who could not have been more friendly. We chatted away like old pals, mainly about my upcoming wedding, while I was waiting for my skin consultation with senior therapist Jade. I was a little nervous about getting anything too invasive done with only 6 weeks out from the big day, especially as I have very sensitive skin. I need not have worried as Jade soon put my mind at ease.
A lot of clinics can feel a bit intimidating, but not this one. In my consultation, we discussed my current skincare regime and any concerns that I have. Jade looked at my skin and suggested a Signature Obagi Pro-C Peptide Facial to promote a brighter, smoother and a clearer complexion. This is such a relaxing skin treatment suitable for most skin types. I am quite self-conscious about the pigmentation on my face and the use of Vitamin C helps hugely with this, whilst also promoting collagen.
My skin was prepared with Obagi Medical’s gentle and effective skin cleanser and toner, followed by the application of select Obagi Medical Professional-C Force Field products. We finished with a mask containing hyaluronic acid for an added boost of hydration and skin nourishment. To maximise the effectiveness of the mask Jade exposed me to Dermalux LED Light Therapy, the red light in particular improves elasticity and firmness. She told me to snooze for 20 minutes and I took her at her word.
Lactic acid is great for maintaining skin moisture so my skin continued to look hydrated right up to the day of my wedding. The treatment concluded with another blast of the hydrating mask and incredible LED light for an increased collagen boost! Upon leaving the clinic I was introduced to the wonderful Dr Deirdre Fitzgerald, the Medical Director and co-founder of the Clinic. Deirdre is also a practising Consultant Surgeon and Aesthetic Medical Doctor.
