Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the first new game in the series for 24 years, has its first teaser trailer.
was announced at the Evo fighting game tournament last yearNow, at this year’s Evo, the first trailer has been shown – as seen at the top of this article – giving brief glimpses of the in-game engine.
The game looks similar in appearance to SNK’s The King of Fighters XV, though the characters appear to have more of a comic book effect with thicker black outlines and a sort of line-shading effect on them. The teaser artwork for the game, shown last year, was created by Aki Senno, who’s better known by her pen name Tonko.
Tonko is an SNK illustrator who’s best known for creating the character designs and illustrations for Garou: Mark of the Wolves, so while gameplay wasn’t shown last year fans were at least reassured that the new art style would likely be authentic. Although there hasn’t been a new Fatal Fury since 1999, many of the characters from the series including Terry Bogard, Joe Higashi and Mai Shiranui have appeared in other fighting games, most notably the King of Fighters series.
