Avatar: The Way of Water has apparently also left everyone hungry for the impending third movie, due to arrive in cinemas in December 2024, with two more scheduled to debut in December 2026 and December 2028. The original Avatar remains the number one box office hit of all time, with $2.922 billion worldwide, and Cameron himself has said that the sequel had such a high production cost that it will need to be one of the five biggest box office hits of all time just to break even.
