Here's how you can help 🇺🇦

As well as official charities and humanitarian non-profits, more and more people are usingto send money and messages of hope directly to the people of Ukraine. The home rental platform has already moved to offer free housing to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, but members of the public have come up with this novel way to financially help those who either intend to remain or are trapped in the country amid the heightening conflict.

One couple who made a booking for 3-10 March in Kyiv, posted confirmation on Twitter and wrote: “Hello Maria, my wife and I have just booked your apartment for one week, but of course we will not be visiting. This is just so you can receive some money.”Another woman who donated in this way received a message back from the host to say that they would “never forget [her] kindness.

In response to the surge in these types of bookings, Airbnb have waived all service fees across bookings made in the Ukraine so that 100% of the cost goes to the owner.Olia Hercules, for example, is a Ukrainian chef living in London whose parents and brothers back in Ukraine are arming up to help fight the Russian troops.
