Patrick Kielty hosts a special Country Music edition featuring performances and interviews with stars including Ashley Campbell, Nathan Carter, and Una Healy, alongside tributes to Dolly Parton and updates on The Late Late Show Opening Act winner Jesse Sludds.
The Late Late Show is going country once again, with the much-loved Country Music Special returning to screens this week. Patrick Kielty will be joined by a host of country music stars and familiar faces for a night celebrating some of the biggest names and songs in the genre.
Joining Patrick from Nashville is American singer-songwriter Ashley Campbell, daughter of late country music legend Glen Campbell. Ashley will open up about her special connection to Ireland, touring with her dad and her memories of Shane MacGowan visiting backstage, before performing Gentle On My Mind. Nathan Carter will also take to the stage to perform his new single Walk on Faith, from his latest album Doing Alright.
He’ll chat about what’s next for him, including a major career milestone as he prepares for his first-ever performance at Carnegie Hall in New York this Halloween. The show will then celebrate the life and legacy of country icon Dolly Parton, with Cliona Hagan joining some of Ireland’s biggest country stars to share stories about her career, her connection to Ireland and perform some of her most beloved songs.
There will also be a familiar face returning to the studio, as Jesse Sludds, winner of The Late Late Show Opening Act competition, joins Patrick to chat about everything that has happened since his big win. The Wexford singer went on to open for Shania Twain at Thomond Park in Limerick in July, performing in front of 25,000 people, and will now announce the release of his new single Dear Home.
Una Healy, who launched the Late Late Show Opening Act search earlier this year and was part of the judging panel, will also drop by for a chat and perform one of the biggest country crossover hits of all time alongside Clodagh Lawlor and Claudia Buckley. Finally, Jimmy Buckley, Sandy Kelly, David James, Trudi Lalor and Ciarán Rosney will also appear on the special. Related Stories
