From Louth to the International Space Station - astronaut Michael Foale has had an incredible career, including the first British spacewalk.

It is believed that he still holds the cumulative-time-in-space record for a UK citizen. According to NASA, Dr Foale logged more than 374 days in space, including four space walks totalling 22 hours and 22 minutes., leaving the team without power or contact with Earth.Foale was awarded an honorary degree by what is now the University of Lincoln in July 2000. He was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree by the University of Kent later the same year.
