Actor Jack Reynor is set to star in a reboot of The Mummy, it has been announced. Reynor will star in Irish director Lee Cronin's reboot of the iconic horror, which is due to begin filming in Ireland next week.

US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter says Co Wicklow actor Reynor is understood to be playing "a husband and father who runs afoul of supernaturally sinister forces". "This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I'm digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening," said Cronin when the project was first announced last year.The 1999 Brendan Fraser starring ‘Mummy,’ written and directed by Stephen Sommers, was itself a remake of the 1932 film of the same name.The film's success spawned two sequels, 2001’s “The Mummy Returns,” and 2008’s “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
