In the photograph, the Queen and her mother can be seen meeting a veteran at a sale of work organised by the charity in the 1930s. The Queen sweetly shakes the man’s hand as the Queen Mother looks on smiling.
One of a series of photographs, the next was an image of the Queen hosting a reception for Friends of the Elderly in 2009 and the third shot shows Princess Alexandra, who is currently President of the charity, at the opening of the Bradbury Centre, a specialist dementia home, in Malvern in 2008. Uploaded onto the official Royal Family Instagram account, the caption of the carousel read:"Friends of the Elderly has had Royal support since its early days caring for WWI veterans. Her Majesty The Queen is currently Patron, and Princess Alexandra is President.

Today, it provides daycare and care home support to older people as well as grants and specialist dementia care for those who need it.
Followers were clearly delighted to see the touching pictures. One fan commented:"This is true Service", while another said:"Wonderful to see, HM visits would have made such a huge difference to the elderly residents", and a third simply left a number of red heart emojis.
