Two-day storm dropped rain across San Diego County, snow in the mountains and will keep the region at below-normal temperatures in coming days
Keep those parkas and beanies handy — the winter storm is moving on, but not the cold.will blanket San Diego County the rest of the week, the chilly reminders of a two-day storm that dropped more than 1 inch of rain across most of the region and dumped several inches of snow in the local mountains.
Clear skies, drier air and light offshore winds will keep things chilly into Wednesday morning, when temperatures may dip even lower, the weather service said. It will warm slightly after that through the end of the work week, but still be colder than normal for mid-December.Before it headed east Monday afternoon, the storm displayed a full arsenal — rain, snow, wind, hail — that flooded some local roads, turned others into “chains required” zones, and closed mountain schools.
Elsewhere in the county, most coastal regions had received close to, or slightly above, 1 inch of rain by early afternoon. In the valleys, most areas were slightly wetter, with Lake Wohlford getting 1.53 inches, Harbison Canyon 1.37 inches, and Ramona 1.26.
