More spas and resorts are offering packages and retreats that aim to help women deal with symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, insomnia, depression and weight gain

A flurry of menopause-focused books and companies, including telemedicine providers Elektra Health and Gennev, online community app Perry and supplement company Bonafide, are making midlife women’s concerns more visible, too.With Gen Xers firmly in midlife and the oldest millennials now in their early 40s, the attention makes business sense. Doctors who specialize in treating menopause symptoms say that some of the approaches touted at retreats, like certain vitamins, minerals and herbs and particular types of exercise, aren’t backed by science. “If women are really working on stress management on these retreats, it’s conceivable that would help and the community, being with other women in the same situation, helps,” says Dr. Faubion.
A menopause retreat in East Sussex, England, hosted by Nicki Philips, a Pilates instructor who created the women’s health app niix.During the retreat, a gynecologist and menopause specialist discussed hormone therapy, a psychologist led a session on positive thinking and a nutritionist coached the dozen attendees to up their calcium intake. Mrs. Philips led Pilates and strength training classes. The attendees, who each paid between 650 and 1,300 pounds also went on hikes and had massages. Mrs.
