In its damning assessment of the former Prime Minister, the committee’s report said Mr Johnson would have faced a 90-day suspension if was still an MP, and suggested his parliamentary pass, normally available to former MPs, should be removed.
The committee found that some senior No 10 officials were “concerned” about the “social nature” of the gathering and reluctant to go ahead, although it was unclear whether these were raised with Mr Johnson. “His assertion that the Prime Minister’s family are entitled to use every part of the building does not constitute an explanation,” the committee said.
