Lance Corporal Jamie Webb, 24, from Handforth, Cheshire, died after insurgents attacked his base in the Nad Ali district of Helmand province in the Middle Eastern country.

A British soldier who served in Iraq came back from a traumatic brain injury to defend his country in Afghanistan - only to be killed on duty with a week left of his tour.

Speaking to MailOnline, his brother Luke, 28, said his sibling deserved to be remembered in a proper fashion for his adherence to British values - and for having the bravery to return to active duty after being attacked. LCpl Webb's brother Jamie said of his brother's recovery from an attack: 'He wanted to get back out there, to be with the lads, with his brothers in arms. He loved this country'

And in 2010, he was deployed with 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment for his first tour of Afghanistan as part of Operation Herrick 12, the UK's arm of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force . Throughout his tours, he took photos for his family because, in his brother's words, 'you don't see what they go through over there, the lads'.

For Luke, mother Sue, now 68, and late father David, it came as an unexpected shock - as they had spoken to him on the phone just hours before the attack unfolded. Tributes from other senior officers, platoon commanders and company sergeants, as well as his fellow soldiers, remembered 'Webby' for his humour, the boost he gave to morale, and his commitment to his duty.

'But our dad used to always say Jamie never got the recognition he deserved for going through all of that.' Locals and LCpl Webb's Mercian regiment colleagues turned out in numbers for the unveiling of the street sign Luke said of the country: 'What people don't know about Afghanistan is that there's a lot of good people over there that want freedom and peace. Jamie fought for peace, and for everyone to have a decent life over there.
