More than 700 people were sentenced for committing a theft offence in the West Mercia Police area in 2022
Home offices figures show that 26,704 theft offences were recorded in West Mercia over the same period. However the rise is well below those of a decade ago when there were 2,055 theft sentences in West Mercia. The average custody length thieves received in 2022 was 11.2 weeks, down from 12.9 the year before, while the average fine handed down rose slightly from £122 to £124.
