The two-in-a-row Offaly champions will be bidding for a first Leinster title since 2012 on Saturday against Dublin kingpins Na Fianna, who are looking for their first ever

It's taken Conor Slevin more than 11 years to get back to Croke Park, but it’s a legacy of that campaign he has a largely new and extremely promising team around him now.

“Yeah, look, sure it's great to be getting to go back and put on a K/K jersey in Croke Park,” said Slevin. “It's a proud day to wear a K/K jersey up in Croke Park. There's not too many of us on the team. I suppose there's three of us. James Gorman came on the last day, that would make four who were there in 2013 and on the field that day.

“Sure look, Saturday night, we'll give it a rattle anyways and try our best. We're up against a savage team but sure we'll go as hard as we can.”“They came down to Kilcormac and we had a right good challenge match with them, I think it was a Sunday morning. The K/K team is largely a youthful one now, with the club having dominated the underage scene in Offaly in recent years, to such a degree that they had 11 players on the All-Ireland under-20 winning panel this year.

“There is more coming through,” said Slevin. “I even see it there myself, I have a couple of nieces and nephews who are mad into hurling and who are all about Adam Screeney and Brecon Kavanagh and Ter Guinan and all these guys. It's great to see.
