Out of 50 of the biggest UK festivals and the 200 headline acts, the survey found that only 26 were female (or all-female bands) and only one artist was non-binary.

Both organisations offered funding for female artists for their studio recordings and travel to festivals and gigs. Rogers will appear at Latitude Festival this summer, where Lewis Capaldi, Foals and Snow Patrol are headlining. Paul Reed at the Association of Independent Festivals, which represents over 90 UK festivals, explained to the BBC’s Newsbeat that the imbalance is seen across ‘the wider music industry ecosystem.’He recognised that ‘there is clearly more work to be done’ but also showcased festivals such as Strawberries & Creem where 60% of their line-up are already female or non-binary artists, with acts including Ella Mai and Mabel on the bill alongside rapper Lil Wayne.
