Putin’s remarks come as Biden will meet Nato allies in Poland in bid to solidify Western support for Ukraine

He accused the West of “playing a dirty game” with people and with Ukraine. He cited Yugoslavia, Iraq and Syria and “centuries of colonialism and dictatorship”. The Russian president said the West deceived their own people with “total unprincipled lies” about what was happening in Donbas.

Ireland has contributed to EU-led military training missions before, most recently in Mali. However, this will be the first time it has contributed to training a force engaged in a war against another country.
