Alex McLeish believes Steven Davis can be positive addition to Rangers' backroom staff
Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish has spoken of his 'admiration' for Steven Davis as speculation continues to mount over the veteran midfielder's future.
Davis was due to hold talks with new Rangers manager Philippe Clement this week, with speculation surrounding a possible backroom role at Ibrox. The Northern Ireland captain recently acted as caretaker manager following the sacking of Michael Beale, overseeing the club's 2-1 defeat to Aris Limassol in the Europa League and a 3-0 Scottish Premiership win over St Mirren.
Speaking to GlasgowWorld , McLeish said: “Steven’s a player I’ve always admired. During my Birmingham days, Steven played for Fulham and I thought ‘this guy is unbelievable’ when we played a home game against them. "I’m not sure where he is yet in terms of his badges but he’s certainly got a very good football brain and would be a great addition to the Ibrox coaching staff. It’s not absolutely essential , but I think it definitely helps a bit.
