A New Study Finds ‘This Is Us’ Helped Destigmatize Alzheimer’s Disease—Here’s How

“I think it encourages family discussion and it takes away some of the [stigma] of even saying the word Alzheimer’s,” a 62-year-old female participant said. “I actually think the show will … open the eyes to people that maybe don’t know enough to recognize that those are the early signs of Alzheimer’s,” a 55-year-old male added.Researchers hypothesized that in discussing Randall and Kevin’s disagreement over Rebecca’s treatment, participants would side with one brother or the other.
