AS the contest to become the next Conservative Party leader and ultimately the next prime Minister nears it conclusion, I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend the Scottish hustings in Pert last week.

I was appalled to see a baying group of pro-independence supporters spitting on pensioners, chucking eggs at attendees and using all their usual buzzwords such as scum, liar and traitor. That sort of behaviour is not healthy for Scottish politics and frankly it has been happening ever since our city and our country was divided during the independence referendum in 2014.

I know many will recoil in horror at that statement, but if you don't believe me go and check out the video of her on the 2019If the SNP party leader can get away with language and tone like she did that day, then it is little wonder it spurs those in attendance in Perth on Tuesday night to do similar.
