Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become England's next permanent manager, with the German being handed a bumper payday by FA chiefs to replace interim boss Lee Carsley
Thomas Tuchel has signed a bumper £5million-a-year deal with the FA after agreeing a deal to take over as England manager.
Lee Carsley has been in interim charge of the team for the Nations League. But a defeat to Greece last week all but ended his hopes of taking the role on permanently. The FA have though avoided paying any compensation to bring in the German. His contract with Bayern ran until July 2025, but the Bundesliga giants have agreed to waive any payment to allow Tuchel to take over England.It is his first job in international management, having previously taken charge of Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Bayern. Tuchel has won a raft of trophies, including the Champions League in 2021.
The new England boss has already received the backing of Three Lions skipper Harry Kane. While he insisted he has not been told of any potential deal, Kane failed to hide his admiration of Tuchel, having working under him at Bayern.
