Octopus Energy has undercharged thousands of customers by 99.9 per cent on their energy bills this winter.from the supplier last week saying they have been charged just 0.01 per cent of the amount of gas they have used over the last past few months.The provider said they have benefited from the error, as a result of the type of meter they have installed.
Octopus Energy have contacted some customers to say they have overpaid on their energy bills over winterhe had still been paying in £94 a month, as well as receiving the Government funding of £66, meaning he has now nearly £1,000 in credit in his account, as only a small electricity payment each month has been going out.
An Octopus Energy spokesperson said: “We spotted a system error affecting a very small group of customers with older gas meters which still used imperial measurements.
