Three Lancashire Covid hotspots remain a concern as figures everywhere else drop for fifth week in a row

Coronavirus figures for Lancashire have once again seen a decline in the rates per 100,000 people. This is the fifth week in a row where figures have continued to dropFigures published for the week ending January 28, show Clitheroe North to have recorded the highest figures per 100,000 people. The area had a rate of 122.9.The latest low figures come as plans for the 2023 Autumn booster vaccine roll out have been announced.

The JCVI warns if a novel variant of concern emerged with clinically significant biological differences compared to the Omicron variant an emergency surge vaccine response maybe needed. Professor Wei Shen Lim, Chair of COVID-19 vaccination on the JCVI, said: "The COVID-19 vaccination programme continues to reduce severe disease across the population, while helping to protect the NHS.

"That is why we have advised planning for further booster vaccines for persons at higher risk of serious illness through an autumn booster programme later this year. We will very shortly also provide final advice on a spring booster programme for those at greatest risk."Case rate per 100,000 people for the seven day period ending January 28READ MORE:
