The Rapids did not play particularly well in a 1-0 loss Saturday night the against Earthquakes at PayPal Park. Here are three takeaways from the game.

Colorado conceded a goal on a set piece in the 64th minute after it was under pressure for early stretches of the second half. The Earthquakes scored through center back Nathan, who slotted home the game’s only goal to beat William Yarbrough.

“It’s hard enough to go on the road and win games in this league,” Rapids coach Robin Fraser said. “As I said, we didn’t play particularly well, but when you do enough to earn a point, only to have it taken away from you, that’s a really tough one to swallow. … Anybody who looked at the non-penalty call who thinks it wasn’t a penalty, feel free to contact me.”

The Rapids have yet to win on the road this year and have been outscored 11-3 while struggling to gel defensively away from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
