Three teenagers were charged with carjacking an older man's vehicle on Chicago's West Side.
The three teenagers, ages 12, 13, and 14, were arrested on Saturday for stealing a vehicle from a 50-year-old man, according to police.
The trio face several criminal charges. The 12-year-old has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a weapon, one felony count of possessing a lost credit or debit card, and one felony count of forgery possession with intent to deliver, according to police.
Carjackings have been on the rise for several years. Chicago has seen a 207% increase in carjackings over the last two years, according to a report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau.The majority of car thieves have been teenagers. The NICB found that juvenile suspects outnumbered adults more than two to one.
