Three teenagers die following 'stampede' at St Patrick's Day party in Cookstown, Co Tyrone
The victims, a girl and boy both aged 17, and a boy aged 16, were at a party at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.
"They say there was a huge crowd waiting to get into the venue and then a lot of commotion up near the front of the queue, then they said the emergency services arrived and they were all asked to leave.The 42-year-old, of Donaghmore, Co Tyrone, added: "While it's not clear exactly what happened, it's the most tragic ending imaginable to what was supposed to be a celebration of St Patrick's Day.
“This is a desperate situation on what should have been a fantastic night. It will be memorable for all the wrong reasons now.” Journalist Brendan Marshall told BBC NI: "He confirmed that - contrary to the rumours that had been circulating - there had been no crushing and nothing had collapsed.
