Several Ministers have spoken out about doubling the €500 cash boost given to renters around Ireland, with it expected to be bumped to €1,000 in the announcement
The Rent Tax Credit was introduced in Budget 2023 and is worth €500 per individual or €1,000 per jointly assessed couple.
“I want to see that increased and expanded in this year’s budget. That’s a real measure to help with a reduction in rental costs.” “I would echo the calls of the Minister for Housing that he’d like to see an increase in the rent tax credit. I’d ideally like to see it doubled if possible,” he added.The rent payments must be for a home that is in Ireland.This is the case even if you make a top-up payment in addition to the housing support you get.
