A thug attacked his partner and threatened to murder her in broad daylight.
The pair had been together drinking alcohol walking along the area's Glasgow Road.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the victim then called her father while Alexander argued and shouted at her."He compressed the victim's neck and said he would murder her and her dad."The victim had dialled 999 meantime where she was noted to be"crying and panicked”.The victim threw her phone in a bush before finding a member of the public to help her.Police later traced Alexander nearby and he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman as well as breaching a non-harassment order which had been in place until 2023.Gerry Devanney, defending, told the court earlier this week that Alexander - a roofer by trade - resorted to physical violence after an"argument developed”. Sheriff Martin Jackson KC ordered Alexander - who appeared from custody - to undertake 180 hours of unpaid work.The sheriff said:"You just resort to violence frequently - far too frequently it appears."What appears to me is that you are increasingly becoming violent in domestic relationships.
"I would be surprised if you come back here in three months for your review and have engaged in this process - it wont be easy for you."
