A thug who strangled his cousin when she stepped in to protect his girlfriend has been jailed for 18 months.

Judge Guy Mathieson, sentencing, said: "I have read carefully the presentence and psychiatric reports, which filled in a lot of the background as to how you have become, quite frankly, an angry young man, how it came to be that you abuse substances, legal and illegal, and why you have such anger management issues. It is quite clear that when you get angry or frustrated or feel hard done by, whether that is in any way justified, you lash out.
