Met Eireann has issued a weather warning for six counties, with thunderstorms expected to persist in some parts of Ireland. It comes as long-range weather models tease that better weather could be ahead.
More thunderstorms are forecast to rip through Ireland - but there's a glimmer of hope for better weather ahead.

In the meantime, showers and rain will continue for the rest of the working week before conditions turn drier for the weekend. Giving a detailed day-by-day breakdown of what to expect, Met Eireann said: "A mix of cloud and sunny spells for Wednesday afternoon and evening, with scattered showers, some heavy.
"After a mostly cloudy start Saturday with some patchy rain and drizzle, a clearance to mostly dry conditions with spells of sunshine will follow from the north. Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C generally, cooler for northwestern and northern areas, in mostly moderate northerly winds.
